Britain’s western gem is a magnificent destination to visit this Autumn. Wales is filled with fun activities, vibrant nights and the greenest of green landscapes - all happily combined to create a must-see destination. With the October half-term almost upon us, you could go on a suprise adventure with the kids without even worrying about the cost too much.

 

  1. Visit the stunning Portmeirion, Gwynedd.

Not quite the Italian Riviera, but definitely a place whose architecture was inspired by it. This tourist village was built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis as a tourist attraction inspired by Portofino Italy, to bring a bit of the Mediterranean to Wales.

Take a stroll through the beautifully designed streets and feel as if you’re breathing Italian air. Later on you can opt for a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants and cafes in the town. The perfect excuse for pizza, bellissimo, no?

  1. Try one of the many golf courses across the country.

 

Wales has great golf courses golf courses. There’s plenty to choose from and depending which part of Wales you’re visiting, there’s always one nearby for you to spend your time practising for that hole in one. Choose your favourite Welsh retreat location and travel with your Railcard to save money. There's a reasopn you got one of course. Use that extra cash for a beer at the golf club, where you’ll can channel your inner John Panton. 

It's a great opportunity to do a family activity where you can also teach your young ones how to play, or even complete in a friendly family match.

 

  1. Dan Yr Ogof Caves.

Once described as the “greatest natural wonder in Britain”, these 17km long caves will please the explorer and intrigue the learner.

Famous for being one of the filming locations for Doctor Who, this place will impress every one as you can honestly say it's bigger on the inside. If you're travelling with young ones, what better place to enjoy the day other than being at a specially set up dinosaur exhibition, located within the caves.

  1. National Botanic Gardens.

 

Unmissable! This is a must see for anyone who wants to explore nature and have a fun time. The National Botanic Garden of Wales is located in the Towy Valley, and has an amazing collection of different plant varieties  and hundreds of acres of countryside for you to explore. 

Children will love observing the natural beauty and find out more about the local flora and fauna. As well as seeing some really great creepy crawleys. 

Whether you want to see the scenery or learn about the medicinal research that is happening around plants, these gardens will make you love Wales even more.
